Seminar on the Mandatory National Standard Project "Safety Technical Requirements for Cables Used in Coal Mines" Held in Zhejiang
2021/04/23

On April 23, 2021, a seminar regarding the mandatory national standard project titled "Safety Technical Requirements for Cables Used in Coal Mines" was held in Zhejiang. The meeting was attended by leaders from the National Mine Safety Administration, the National Center for Safety Mark for Mining Products, and China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Shanghai Co., Ltd., as well as members of the standard drafting group and representatives from various major domestic cable manufacturing enterprises. Given the extensive and diverse application of cables in underground coal mining operations, their safety performance exerts a significant influence on safe production within coal mines.

Currently, however, there is no existing national standard to regulate and unify these requirements. Consequently, there is an urgent need to formulate a unified standard to specify the safety performance requirements for coal mine cables, thereby effectively mitigating safety accidents caused by cable-related issues. In accordance with the *Notice of the Standardization Administration of China on Issuing the Plan for the Revision and Formulation of 44 Mandatory National Standards, Including "Passenger Car Tires"* (SAC [2019] No. 14)—specifically under Plan No. 20190079-Q-627—the project to formulate the *Safety Technical Requirements for Cables Used in Coal Mines* standard was initiated. This project is spearheaded by China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Shanghai Co., Ltd., Shanghai Coal Science Testing Technology Co., Ltd., and the National Center for Safety Mark for Mining Products Co., Ltd. Our company, along with Shanghai Pudong Wire & Cable (Group) Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Zhongmei Cable Co., Ltd., Fujian Nanping Sun Cable Co., Ltd., Changzhou Marine Cable Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shenghua Cable (Group) Co., Ltd., Anhui Lingyu Cable Co., Ltd., Shandong Yankuang Group Changlong Cable Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Shangwei Co., Ltd., and Ordos Shendong Testing Co., Ltd., participated in the drafting of the standard.

Adhering to the safety imperatives of coal mining and the objective requirements for the development of the coal mine cable industry, the drafting group formulated the standard in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2020, *Standardization Work Guidelines—Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents*. Throughout the drafting process, particular emphasis was placed on ensuring scientific rigor, providing effective guidance, and maintaining practical applicability. The standard was compiled by integrating the latest *Coal Mine Safety Regulations* and by referencing the requirements and test methods stipulated in the new editions of standards such as GB/T 12972, GB/T 3048, MT/T 386, GB/T 2951, and GB/T 7594. The project was launched in June 2019; through the refinement and revision of the draft for comments during this meeting, the aim is to finalize the draft for approval as soon as possible.
